BAYWATCH MENTIONED IN SPORTS ILLUSTRADED!!
From the article:
On what Baywatch means to him
There's a group of kids who comes to five, six games a year and hangs a banner that says jason baywatch. They wear white T-shirts and red shorts -- you know, lifeguard gear. I was a bit of a fan of the show growing up. I liked it for the same reason everybody liked it: It was a show on the beach in L.A. There were bikinis everywhere. But some of the plotlines were pretty bad, and I'm not as big a fan of David Hasselhoff as the Germans are.
June 14th 2006 Game Notes:
-Pirates win
-Nick catches ball
-Tim is able to catch a line drive in bp that bruised his hand but failed to catch an easy toss from Bay
May 31st 2006 Game Notes:
-Fro drops ball (yes he plays baseball in college)
-2 balls caught and one lonnies shirt
-Bay hits home run
-Pirates win
-Duct tape denined at door, shit almost hit the fan
April 14th 2006 Game Notes:
-Snod catches a ball
-Tim drops a ball
-2 bad attempts for balls one by Fro and Zak
-Bay disappointed by our performance
-Chris Bailey and two unidentified friends screw the baywatch sitting next to us and not saving the seats by him. Fro, Dave, and Rich do not get a seat because of them. In the 4th inning Bailey and friends leave after we give them a ball.
-Pirates lose but Bay homers
January 29 Piratefest Notes:
-Despite waiting in like for two hours and a little extracurricular activity by member Tim (i.e. chasing Bay through the convention center) Baywatch is unsuccessful in all attempts to get Bay's autograph. However, Tike Redman autographs were easily obtained.
-Later in the day the Baywatch set its sights on getting noticed by displaying the banner in the crowd while Bay and Craig Wilson dominated the competition in the Pirates version of the Newly-Weds game. The Baywatch was able to help Craig Wilson with one answer. Although Wilson stared at the Baywatch during the whole game, he nor Bay would sign autographs for the watch. what the crap?
Sept. 24th Game Notes:
- Chris drops 2 balls, i repeat Chris drops TWO BALLS. He tries to place the blame on everyone else claim he didnt touch it.
- Bay Homers
- Bandwagon Bay fans called the "Bay Brigade" sighted in left field
Aug 25th Game Notes:
- Zak drops a ball. Word is that it hit him in the chest.
- Bay hits game winning home run of Randy Johnson.
Aug. 11th Game Notes:
- 4 balls thrown to the Baywatch, 3 caught. Squiggs, Tim (with a sweet bounce off of squiggs hands), and Fro got one. FRO AND SQUIGGS COMBINED FOR THE DROP THOUGH.
- Fro gives his ball away to a smokin girl. Does not get her name and number, does get a hug though.
- Justin hits on crazy drunk lady with no teeth. Says I bet she'd give good head.
- Crazy drunk lady comes up and visits the baywatch twice. Thinks Squiggs is hot, Justin is jealous.
- More drunk people below us and they want balls. Drunk guys start pulling drunk girls shirts down for balls. Didnt get any and decide to try and rip the sign down. Baywatch wins the tug a war.
- Baywatch consumes 26 hot dogs between 5 people.
July 16 Game Notes:
-The Baywatch was on TV for the pre-game, game, and post-game.
-Jason Bay hits his first homerun while the Baywatch was in attendance.
-Four Balls were caught by the watch. Two from Bay, and two in BP.
-Al Becomes Second Baywatch Member to Drop Ball- Shame on you.
-Jason Bay left early, leaving the Baywatch waiting at the players exit for an hour for nothing.

Hi Guys, Sorry I couldn't make the cook-out on June 30th, but I had to be at the field by 9 am. I didn't get to read your letter until the day before, so I couldn't write you back in time. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for your support, I like the official uniforms you guys thought of. Keep me posted as to what games you are coming to and if you will be tail-gating. I hopefully can make it sometime. -Jason PS-Tell Nick to bring a glove next time! |
Bay Recieves First Half Rookie of the Year Honors
NL Rookie of the Half-Year
JASON BAY, PIRATES -- Bay is turning into this year's Miguel Cabrera -- except it was shoulder surgery, not teenage-hood, that kept him out of the big leagues until May. But even though he has fewer than 150 at-bats, Bay leads all NL rookies in homers (12) and RBI (39). He's hitting .410 with men is scoring position, .304 overall, slugging .642 and doing a spectacular job of helping Oliver Perez make the Pirates' Brian Giles trade last summer look like one of the best of the year. Bay's place in trivia annals: Just in the first 200 at-bats of his big-league career (which began last September), Bay has already joined Nomar Garciaparra as the only two active players with two games of eight or more RBI.
